If you want to jazz up your presentation a bit, there are a few things you can do. But here’s an idea that is not immediately obvious when you look at the tools in Google Slides. It’s kind of tucked away, so it’s easy to miss.

The feature is an Image Mask, and it can add a nice dynamic dimension to your presentation to make it stand out a bit from the crowd. Let’s have a look at how to mask images in Google Slides

Preparing an Image

  1. Start a new Google Slide file or open an existing one.
  2. Click on the slide where you want the masked image.
  3. Select Insert > Image, then choose an image source.
  4. Position the image on the slide and crop it if required.

Ok, so far, we have the image prepared. Now it’s time for the fun part.

  1. Select the image to be masked.
  2. From the Toolbar, locate the Crop button, then click on the small arrow to the right of the button.
  3. From the drop down list, select a category, then select the shape.
