Microsoft Teams FAQ's Frequently Asked Questions

Microsoft Teams FAQ's

Microsoft Teams is a chat-based workspace used for group communication. The application acts as a repository for all the discussions, information and scheduling your team needs to stay on top of. Chat, Meet, Call and Collaborate are the key elements of Microsoft Teams. It can be accessed from a web browser, desktop application, or a Mobile app, and they all synchronise so that you can stay in touch no matter where you are or what device you use.

Anyone who collaborates with their team can use Microsoft Teams. Sometimes you need a quick answer to a question. Using the chat feature is usually a much quicker way to get a response, and the answer is shared automatically with the entire team. Need to have a meeting? Create a Teams meeting so your team members can join remotely. You’ll be able to share your screen, use video and audio, and even record the meeting for later.

Have you ever wondered why the Teams for Dummies books are so popular? After all, you didn’t get this far in your career by being a dummy, did you? Well, mostly it’s because many of us are self-taught, using Google to find out how to use a function, or we are shown how to use Teams by a work mate.

Although this can be helpful, it also means we spend a lot of time on trial and error, or we are just picking up somebody else’s bad habits. These habits often spread across an organisation, so an entire department ends up working inefficiently, instead of benefitting from the wealth of tools that Microsoft Teams has to offer.

At this point, you might head to the bookstore or search online to find a Teams for Dummies book to get you up and running and address those tricky Teams problems.

That’s a step in the right direction, in fact, we at Keystroke Learning use reference manuals ourselves. The problem is that it still takes time to find the information you need.

Our Microsoft Teams training courses are designed to show you the key features and tools you need so you can get back to work and apply them right away.

A Channel is a subset of a Team. If you think of a team as a house, then a channel is a room. Channels are used to divide up the topics, projects, and discussions that a team needs to keep track of. Using channels allows you to focus on specific areas of your larger tasks without becoming overwhelmed with details that may not be relevant to the project.
By default, creating a new Team also creates a Standard Channel for your entire team. This means that everybody in the team has access to the content of the channel. However, you can also set up private channels. These channels are only accessible to the specified team members. The owner of the channel can make changes to the permissions when required.
Yep, just head on over to the Calendar icon in the Microsoft Teams navigation bar to see your appointments and meetings. Also, because Teams integrates with Outlook, you can create a new Teams Meeting directly from within Outlook. Just look for the New Teams Meeting button in the ribbon.

Your learning doesn’t stop once you have completed your course.

We hope you will continue your experience by taking some time to practice what you have learned and apply it to your own situation and environment.

If we have done our job well, you may be inspired to learn even more by attending another course. If you are looking for something other than Microsoft Teams, we have a comprehensive range of courses available for you to choose from.

We are here to help, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any further advice.
