Customised computer training in Microsoft, Adobe and other Software

Adobe Dreamweaver Training Courses

Adobe Dreamweaver is website creation software. It’s used to create websites with HTML, CSS and other Web programming languages.

Dreamweaver also offers pre-made elements that can be dragged and dropped to assemble a fully functional website using a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) interface.

Dreamweaver displays website projects in a live preview window where users see real-time changes take effect while editing HTML and CSS code. Dreamweaver’s live preview window also allows users to place text, images, videos and script widgets into the website without writing a line of code.

At Keystroke Learning, our Adobe Dreamweaver courses cater for all levels of user from beginner to advanced.

Beginners with limited experience with Dreamweaver will gain a solid foundation to build on, while more advanced users will learn to get more out of this versatile application.

Adobe Dreamweaver courses are led by highly skilled and qualified facilitators with many years of real world experience. Our hands-on Full day or Two day courses will help you to gain practical experience, and include many time saving tips and tricks.

Should you need 1 on 1 or group training to fit your schedule, just contact us to talk about your needs. We can also fully customise our courses to your requirements.

Adobe Dreamweaver FAQ

Who uses Dreamweaver?

Adobe Dreamweaver is the industry standard tool for web designers and front-end developers. It combines a powerful design surface and best-in-class code editor with robust site management tools. This simplifies the process of designing, coding, and managing websites that look great on any size screen.

Dreamweaver lets you build responsive websites that adapt and scale to any browser, regardless of the size, screen resolution, or orientation. Integration with other Adobe applications means you can use design assets from tools like Photoshop and Illustrator, and you can browse and access stock photos from Adobe Stock.
Key features of Dreamweaver:

  • Real-Time Browser Preview
  • Creative Cloud Libraries
  • In-Context CSS Documentation

These are just some of the features available in Dreamweaver, but it’s a highly sophisticated application with loads of features so of course there are many more.

Should I buy a Dreamweaver for Dummies book or attend a Training Course?

Have you ever wondered why the Dummies books are so popular? Well, it’s probably because so many of us are self-taught, using Google to find out how to use a function, or we are shown how to use software by someone at work. Although this can be useful, it also means we tend to spend a lot of time with trial and error, or we are just picking up somebody else’s bad habits. Trial and error unfortunately involves a lot of error, and the bad habits you pick up will probably be passed on to the next person, so soon they spread across the business, meaning entire teams can end up working inefficiently.

At this point, you might head to the bookstore or do an online search to find a Dreamweaver for Dummies book to help solve some of those tricky issues. That’s a step in the right direction, and we sometimes use reference manuals ourselves. The problem is that trying to learn by trial and error may cost you many times the cost of a good training course.

Our Dreamweaver courses are designed to target the key features and tools included in the various applications to help you get back to work and apply them right away.

Why should I attend an Adobe Dreamweaver Training Course?

A training course with Keystroke Learning can set you up to take full advantage of your software. We want Adobe Dreamweaver to work for you, not the other way around. We know lots of shortcuts for your software applications, and we want you to know them as well.

Typically, one of our experienced trainers will walk you through the features and functions of the software, then you will try them out on your own, with tips and guidance on getting the best out of the features. We also encourage participants to ask lots of questions to help you get the most out of your learning experience.
You’ll receive a manual to take away at the end of the course, as well as exercise files so you can practice later, or just to jog your memory when you need.

How can I switch between views in Dreamweaver?

You can use the Document toolbar to quickly toggle between different views. The following options appear in the Document toolbar:
Code View – Displays only the Code view in the Document window.
Split View – Splits the Document window between the Code and the Live/Design views.
Live View – this displays an interactive preview that renders HTML5 projects and updates in real time to show changes as you make them. You can also edit HTML elements in Live View.
Design View – Displays a representation of your document showing how the user would see it in a web browser.

I’ve heard of Dreamweaver Snippets, what are they?

If you find yourself using the same code blocks multiple times, you should consider using code snippets to speed up the process of writing code. You can write the code once, and save it as a snippet. Once this is done you can then double-click it in the Snippets panel to insert it in multiple places.

Snippets created using the Snippets panel are not site-specific, which means that they can be reused across multiple sites. You can also use snippets across different devices, and on different versions of Dreamweaver by using sync settings.

Dreamweaver comes preinstalled with a library of code snippets. However, you can always build your own code snippets and save them for later use.

Can I try out my web designs on different devices?

Yes, using Dreamweaver you can test your production-ready web pages on multiple devices at once. You can see how your web page reflows with different form factors and test any interactive features you have added to your pages.

You don’t need to install any mobile app or even physically connect the devices to your desktop. Just scan the automatically generated QR code with your devices and then you can preview your web pages on those devices.

Live inspect, once triggered on your desktop, is reflected on all your connected devices and helps you to inspect various elements and fine tune your web page design.

Does Dreamweaver make it faster to write HTML code?

It’s easy to edit HTML code in Dreamweaver’s code view just by typing your HTML. But Dreamweaver also gives you some extras that extend it beyond a basic HTML editor.

Just start writing an HTML tag by typing <. If you pause right after that character, Dreamweaver will show you a list of HTML tags. These are known as code hints. To narrow down the selection, start typing letters, and Dreamweaver narrows down the drop-down list to the tag that matches what you’re typing.

If you’re new to HTML, you can scroll through the list of HTML tags, trying them out to see what they do. Dreamweaver will continue to prompt you for attributes once you’ve typed a tag. For example, if you type ” <i”, Dreamweaver will drop down to the <i> HTML tag, and display other tags starting with I further down the list.

What is the purpose of a test server?

If you plan to develop dynamic pages using server-side languages such as PHP, you can set up a testing server to generate and display dynamic content while you work. The testing server can be on your local computer, a development server, a staging server, or even a production server.

Setting up a testing server gives you the opportunity to test code safely without causing any problems on your live website. Having a local test server also means you don’t waste any time uploading, testing, fixing, reuploading, and retesting your pages.
